Assessment of Learning Outcomes

According to the Chancellor’s Decree number III/PRT/2018-09/137, the learning success of students at Parahyangan Catholic University is evaluated in four stages, namely:

  1. Evaluation of Study Success Each Semester;
  2. Evaluation of the Success of the First Stage of Study specifically for undergraduate and diploma three program students;
  3. Evaluation of the Success of the Second Stage of Study specifically for undergraduate and diploma three program students;
  4. Evaluation of Final Stage Study Success

Evaluation of Study Success Each Semester, which consists of evaluating the success of each course and calculating the Semester Achievement Index (IPS).

Learning success evaluation is divided into two types: each course evaluation and each learning stage evaluation, which consists of each semester evaluation, Stage One Evaluation, Stage Two Evaluation, and Final Stage Evaluation. Furthermore, an explanation will be given regarding the English Language Competency Evaluation based on UNPAR Rector Regulation No. III/PRT/2025-03/017 concerning the English Language Proficiency Standards for Parahyangan Catholic University Students.

1.1 EVALUATION OF STUDY SUCCESS EACH SEMESTER

Evaluation of learning success in a course is an assessment of student learning outcomes in a course, which is carried out comprehensively and continuously in one semester in a manner appropriate to the characteristics of the course in question.

Evaluation of the success of learning a course can be carried out on student learning outcomes in the evaluation components, namely: assignments, quizzes, observation assessments, participation assessments, performance assessments, Mid-Semester Exams, Final Semester Exams, Final Assignment or Thesis Exams, or other evaluation components that are considered relevant in assessing the success of learning a course.

The evaluation of the success of learning a course for each evaluation component is expressed in numbers with a value range of 0 (zero) to 100 (one hundred). The evaluation of the success of learning a course is expressed in the Final Score (AA) which is calculated using the formula:

AA = sum of all (evaluation component weight * evaluation component value) / sum of all evaluation component weights

Student learning success in a course is expressed by a Final Grade (NA) in the form of the letters A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D, and E. Final Grades A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, and D mean pass, while Final Grade E means fail.

The evaluation component is expressed in the form of numbers with a range of 0–100 with fractional numbers rounded to the nearest unit, with the provision that fractional numbers more than or equal to 0.5 are rounded to 1 and fractional numbers less than 0.5 are rounded to 0.

Conversion of Final Score (AA) to Final Value (NA) is done using the Benchmark Assessment (PAP) as follows:

Final Number (AA)Final Grade (NA)Final Grade ValueMeaningGraduation
80 – 100A4Very GoodPassed
77 – 79A-3,67Passed
73 – 76B+3,33GoodPassed
70 – 72B3Passed
67 – 69B-2,67Passed
63 – 66C+2,33GoodPassed
60 – 62C2Passed
50 – 59D1Not enoughPassed
0 – 49E0Not successfulFailed
1.2 EVALUATION OF SUCCESS EACH SEMESTER

Each semester’s learning success evaluation is conducted immediately after students take their final exams. This evaluation is expressed in the Semester Achievement Index (IPS), which ranges from 0.00 to 4.00 and is calculated using the following formula:

IPS = sum of all (SKS * NA weight) / total SKS taken

IPS is used to determine the credit load that students can take in the following semester.

Numerical representation of course letter grades (Grade A = 4; A- = 3.67; B+ = 3.33; B = 3; B- = 2.67; C+ = 2.33; C = 2; D = 1; E = 0 (fail))

1.3 EVALUATION OF THE SUCCESS OF THE FIRST STAGE STUDY

The First Stage Learning Success Evaluation is conducted at the end of the first 2 (two) years, or at the end of the study period of 4 (four) semesters, calculated from the time the student is registered as a UNPAR student. The First Stage Learning Success Evaluation is expressed in the First Stage Achievement Index (IPT I), with a range of 0.00 – 4.00.

The requirements for passing the First Stage of Learning Success Evaluation for diploma three and undergraduate programs are:

  1. Have passed at least 30 credits;
  2. Achieve a minimum GPA of 2.00;
  3. Especially for undergraduate students:
    1. Have achieved a level of English language proficiency equivalent to CEFR B1; or
    2. Have undertaken a minimum of 120 (one hundred and twenty) hours of English learning to improve their English skills and have increased their English skills by at least (1) one level according to CEFR since the results of the entrance examination.

If these requirements are not met, the student will not be permitted to continue their studies in the same program at UNPAR. Determination of whether a student will be permitted to continue their studies will be made by a Rector’s decree.

The semester in which students are permitted to take study leave is not taken into account in the First Stage Learning Success Evaluation.

1.4 SECOND STAGE LEARNING SUCCESS EVALUATION

The Second Stage of Learning Success Evaluation is conducted at the end of the first 4 (four) years, or at the end of the study period of 8 (eight) semesters, starting from the time the student is registered as a UNPAR student. The Second Stage of Learning Success Evaluation is expressed in the Second Stage Achievement Index (IPT II), with a range of 0.00 – 4.00.

The requirements that must be met in the Second Stage of Learning Success Evaluation are:

  1. Have passed a minimum of 75 credits;
  2. Achieve a minimum GPA of 2.00;
  3. Has achieved a level of English language proficiency equivalent to CEFR B1 or has undertaken a minimum of 200 (two hundred) hours of English language learning to improve his/her English language skills and has increased his/her English language skills by at least (2) two levels according to CEFR since the results of the entrance examination.

The semester in which students are permitted to take study leave is not taken into account in the Second Stage of Learning Success Evaluation.

1.5 EVALUATION OF FINAL STAGE LEARNING SUCCESS

The Final Stage of Learning Success Evaluation is carried out at the end of the maximum study period for undergraduate students at UNPAR, which is 7 (seven) years, or at the end of the study period of 14 (fourteen) semesters calculated from when the person in question registered as an UNPAR student.
