EN] UNPAR MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICS STUDY PROGRAM STUDENTS WIN SILVER AND BRONZE MEDALS AT THE 2018 UPC (UNIVERSITY PHYSICS COMPETITION)

The Faculty of Information Technology and Science (FTIS) of Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) sent two teams to the 2018 University Physics Competition (UPC). Held annually online, this year’s contest presented two real-world problems for participants to solve:

Problem A: Sending a Light
Sail-Propelled Nanocraft to Alpha Centauri

Problem B: Compost Pile Sizes

Participants were free to choose one of the problems, and were given time from November 9 to 11, 2018 to solve the problem using the principles of Physics and write it in the form of a paper (formal paper).

The team consisting of three students from the Mathematics Study Program, namely Nadya Tjindra, Jennifer Lorenza and Ronald Anjaristo, with accompanying lecturer Mr. Janto Vincent Sulungbudi chose Problem B, and succeeded in winning a silver medal.

The team consisting of three Physics Study Program students consisting of Delvydo Melvernaldo, Rizki Budiman and Muhammad Farhan with accompanying lecturer Mr. Reinard Primulando, chose Problem A and succeeded in winning a bronze medal.
