The Faculty of Science (FS) Unpar began with the establishment of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) at Unpar in 1993, which houses two Undergraduate Study Programs, namely Mathematics and Physics. This faculty was officially established based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 34/D/0/1993 dated April 20, 1993. In 1996, the Computer Science Study Program was opened through the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 420/DIKTI/Kep/1996 dated August 8, 1996.
The change of name of FMIPA to Faculty of Information Technology and Science (FTIS) occurred due to the change of name of Computer Science Study Program to Informatics Engineering. Based on the letter of Director General of Higher Education of Ministry of National Education Number 4382/D/T/2008 dated December 10, 2008 regarding Correction of Extension of Study Program Implementation Permit at Parahyangan Catholic University, Computer Science Study Program was required to change its name to Informatics Engineering. This change caused a discrepancy between the name of FMIPA and the study program under it. Therefore, through Decree of Parahyangan Catholic University Foundation Management Number II/2009-04/05-Sk dated April 1, 2009, FMIPA officially changed its name to Faculty of Information Technology and Science (FTIS).
On October 1, 2024, the Faculty of Information Technology (FTIS) officially changed its name to the Faculty of Science (FS). This change coincided with the name change of one of its study programs, the Informatics Engineering Study Program, from Informatics. To maintain educational quality, in addition to implementing an internal quality assurance system, the FS periodically undergoes accreditation through the relevant accreditation agency.
