Semester Credit System

The lecture system at UNPAR uses the Semester Credit Unit (SKS) system. This system allows students to choose their own courses for each semester. The SKS is used to measure:

  • The SKS is used to measure:
  • The size of a student’s study load.
  • The amount of recognition for the success of a student’s learning efforts.
  • The amount of learning effort required for students to complete a program, whether a semester program or a full program.
  • The amount of educational effort for teaching staff.

1 1 credit unit for lecture activities is equivalent to the weekly study load for one semester, consisting of:

  1. Face-to-face activities (lectures) in class (1 hour/SKS), which should be utilized optimally by:
    • reading material expected to be covered by the lecturer,,
    • asking questions to the lecturer about any unclear points,,
    • seeking the lecturer’s advice on effective study and practice methods..
  2. Structured academic activities (approximately 1 hour/SKS), which can include responses, lab work, homework, and/or other assignments from the lecturer, to reinforce learning.
    • Responsibilities are activities where students can utilize the presence of an assistant to help solve questions and technical problems they haven’t mastered.
    • Practicums aim to complement lectures, strengthening the connection between theory and practice.
    • Homework is exercises assigned by the lecturer to ensure thorough mastery of the course material. These can be completed individually or in groups
  3. Independent academic activities (approximately 1 hour/credit unit) are activities carried out independently (in the library, at home, or elsewhere) by students. This is essential for reflecting on and digesting the course material. These activities can include reading textbooks or other books, lecture notes, responses, or lab work, creating assigned and self-selected questions, creating outlines of the topics covered, studying in study groups, etc.

Lecture attendance is required to be at least 78% to support the aforementioned benefits. Violations may result in the loss of the right to take the exam in this course. Absences must be reported to the lecturer, along with a valid and compelling reason.

A student can be declared to have graduated from the UNPAR Mathematics, Physics or Informatics Study Program if they complete a minimum of 144 specific credits with a minimum GPA (Cumulative Achievement Index) of 2.00 and fulfill certain requirements according to the chosen study program.
